Liguria is Italy’s garden. Indeed, the region is world famous for the production of flowers and plants, and Euroflora is the main event of the sector.
LIGURIA AND ‘RIVIERA DEI FIORI’
The Riviera dei Fiori (lit.: flower riviera) is the stretch of the Ligurian coast that goes from Andora to the French border. In particular, the so-called Riviera di Ponente (lit.: Western Riviera), that goes from Genoa to Ventimiglia, is the main area of horticultural production. This is due to the fact that it has a mild climate, it is sunny, and has a fertile soils.
Especially Sanremo is the Italian city of flowers par excellence. Also the annual Festival of Italian Music, the main national music event, takes place here. And the Ariston Theatre, where the singers perform, is decorated with lots of local flowers.
Among the most appreciated flower of Liguria are carnations. And then roses, chrysanthemums, tulips, buttercups, daffodils, orchids and ornamental plants.
