The Greek island of Mykonos is famous for its windmills, night clubs and, of course, the beaches.
Mykonos has 81 km of coastline along which you can find jagged stretches and large bays. And the sea is always fabulous!
So, which are the best beaches in Mykonos? We have a previous article on the best beaches on Mykonos, but we want to add some more options.
3 BEST BEACHES ON MYKONOS
Platys Gialos Beach
About 5km southeast of Mykonos Town is Platys Gialos Beach.
For many tourists, this is the best beach in Mykonos because it is comfortable, lively, there are many restaurants and bars and, of course, it is beautiful. In fact, it is surrounded by white Greek houses and the blue sea is particularly clear. It is popular especially with families and young couples.
Lia Beach
Of all the beaches of Mykonos, Lia Beach is one of the quietest. Maybe because it is far from Mykonos Town!
Here you will find a beach club, sun beds and umbrellas, but the atmosphere is more relaxed.
The surrounding cliffs are stunning and the sea is great for snorkeling and diving.
Agios Ioannis
Agios Ioannis is popular with families with children and couples for its beautiful sunsets. It was also the set of the 80s movie Shirley Valentine. In short, it is enchanting!
Here you will find sunbeds and umbrellas and the seawater is clear.
Fokos Beach
Of all the most beautiful beaches in Mykonos, Fokos beach is perhaps the wildest. It is located in the north east of the island, there is no public transport to reach it and you will not find any tour facilities. On the contrary, the transparent water, the light sand and the barren hills are gorgeous.
If you can, take a trip to the local tavern – it has a very good reputation.
